What are Cable Glands?
Cable glands are used to firmly secure electrical cable entering a piece of equipment, and provide a seal between the external and internal surfaces of the equipment. Cable Glands are designed to protect cable as it passes through walls, cabinets, or switchboards. Unlike grommets, Cable Glands tighten around the wire to act as a seal.

What IP Rating is Specified for KT Nylon and Metal Cable Glands?
KT Nylon Cable Glands are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. KT Metal Cable Glands and are tested and certified to IP68 in accordance with AS1939-1990. All KT Glands include a Lock Nut.
What is an IP Rating?
The IP Code, International Protection Marking, sometimes misinterpreted as Ingress Protection Marking, classifies and rates the degree of protection provided against the intrusion (including body parts such as hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures. It is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof. However, no edition of the standard is openly published for unlicensed readers. The digits (characteristic numerals) indicate conformity with the conditions summarized in the tables below. Where there is no protection rating with regard to one of the criteria, the digit is replaced with the letter X. See below KT IP Rating Chart for further information.

What Material are KT Cable Glands Made From and to What Specifications?
Cable glands can be made from brass, Stainless Steel or Nylon. KT offers both a Nylon and Metal Cable Gland Range that will ensure your connections are protected from dirt and moisture.
KT Nylon Cable Glands:

- KT Nylon Cable Glands are manufactured using UL approved Nylon PA66 (Flammability UL 94V-2)
- Thread: Metric, PG, G(PF), and NPT thread
- Materials: UL approved Nylon PA66 (Flammability UL 94V-2) for A. C. E. F parts, (Accept to make flammability UL 94V-0 ); EPDM rubber for B. D parts (Also accept to make super rubber: resist high temperature rubber, resist strong acid/alkali,etc).
- Protection degree: IP68
- Working temperature: -40℃ to 100℃
- Features: The claws and seals of excellent design, sealing nut have a “click”sound and re-open, can hold cable firmly and have a wider cable range.
- Resistant to salt water, weak acid, alcohol, oil, grease and common solvency.

- KT Metal Cable Glands are manufactured using nickel-plated brass.
- Materials: Brass with nickel plated for A. C. F parts, UL approved Nylon PA66 (Flammability UL 94V-2) for E part, EPDM rubber for B. D parts. (Accept to make super rubber: resist high temperature rubber, resist strong acid/alkali,etc).
- Working temperature: -40℃ to 100℃
